Venezuela Seizes Drugtraffic
Capo Wanted by US
CARACAS - Venezuelan scientific police
seized Colombian Carlos Ojeda, wanted by the
INTERPOL, the United States for traffic of
heroine and cocaine in that country,
informed today the Minister of the Interior
and Justice, Tarek El Aissami.
He commented the detainee, 55, is head of an
important cartel who carried out drug
trafficking operations to North America and
Puerto Rico, being sentenced to life by US
justice.
These actions show the efficient policies of
the anti-drugs national plan carried out by
our government, stressed El Aissami. It is
all about a heavy blow dealt on that evil
and to those who lead those criminal
actions.
El Aissami extolled that the detention of
the Colombian criminal, they sum nine capos
captured in the country this year.
The Minister indicated that the Venezuelan
government will put the detainee at the
disposal of US authorities in the least time
possible.
President Hugo Chavez instructed us to
communicate immediately the detention and to
put him at the disposal of the US justice.
We hope US authorities would put at our
disposal the criminals that took refuge in
that country, stressed the Minister in
statements to Venezolana de Television.
During this year, the Venezuelan government
seized over 26 tons of drugs. In 2009 that
figure exceeded 60 tons and those arrested
were more than two thousand.
We are today among the countries that best
results have had in the struggle against
drug trafficking, affirmed the Interior and
Justice Minister. |
