Cuban
Culture
Exhibited
at
Nicaraguan
University
MANAGUA
- A
diverse
and
broad
sample
of Cuban
culture
was
exhibited
on
Friday
at the
campus
of
Central
American
University
(UCA) as
part of
an
annual
fair,
attended
this
time by
22
countries.
The 18th
International
Fair of
Culture
and
Friendship
(Fica
2010),
organized
by UCA,
was held
today,
coinciding
this
year
with the
50th
anniversary
of the
foundation
of UCA.
Cuba
participates
with a
stand
full of
posters,
books,
pictures,
compact
disks
and
other
articles
representing
Cuban
culture,
as well
as
videos
on
tourist
places
and on
the life
of the
population
and the
work
carried
out by
brigades
of Cuban
collaborators
in
Nicaragua.
Representatives
of those
brigades
attended
the
event
and
explained
the
characteristics
of the
work
they are
carrying,
mainly
in the
health
field.
The fair
was
opened
by Mayra
Luz
Perez
Diaz,
who is
rector
of UCA,
founded
in 1960
by the
Company
of Jesus
as "a
non
profitable,
autonomous
educational
institution
of
public
service
and
Christian
inspiration,"
becoming
the
first
private
university
created
in
Central
America.
