GUATEMALA

Inflation
in
Guatemala
increased
0.53
percent
last
September
to
October,
reported
the
Guatemalan
National
Statistics
Institute.
The
National
Statistics
Institute
said the
cumulative
variation
this
year is
4.50
percent
and the
year-on-year
amounted
to 4.51.
The
consequences
of
climate
events
since
last May
increased
significantly
consumer
prices
of
several
agricultural
products,
after a
slight
lack in
the
markets
with the
required
quality.
As
examples,
the
National
Statistics
Institute
said the
highest
increases
occurred
with
tomato,
42.9
percent,
and
legumes
(15.30).
However,
58 farm
products
had
price
reductions
and 23
maintained
the same
level.
Ranked
first on
the rise
in
values
in other
sectors,
transport
and
communications,
as part
of
increases
in 137
of the
218
Guatemalans
living
expenses.
