FMLN
Calls
For
National
Pact to
Transform
El
Salvador
SAN
SALVADOR
- A
national
pact to
continue
transforming
the
nation
was
called
for by
the
Farabundo
Marti
National
Liberation
Front (FMLN)
of El
Salvador.
Building
a
country
where
all can
live
together
is the
great
dream of
the FMLN,
affirmed
one of
the top
party
leaders
in
government,
Jose
Luis
Merino,
known as
Commander
Ramiro
Vazquez
during
the
guerrilla
struggle.
Merino
tackled
the
issue
Thursday
night
during a
rally to
celebrate
the 21st
anniversary
of the
great
offensive
led by
the
Front in
1989.
Three
books
were
launched
with
historical
testimony
from 10
FMLN
leaders.
He
recalled
that on
March
15,
2009,
the
Salvadoran
people
rose up
and
defeated
the
right-wing
forces,
one of
the most
organized
in Latin
America,
which
had
everything:
money,
press
and
state
power.
Merino
warned
that the
rightists
are now
seeking
to take
back the
space
they
lost,
and
remove
the FMLN
from the
government;
to do
so, they
will
carry
out an
all-out
attack,
he
assured.
He
emphasized
the need
to
maintain
the
unity of
the
people
and
party in
face of
this
situation,
as the
energy
and
force to
continue
with the
transformation
of this
nation.
