New
National
Stadium
Victim
Of First
Robbery
Although
the new
national
stadium
is
inaugurated,
it has
yet to
be
handed
over by
the
Chinese
to Costa
Rica and
open its
doors to
the
public,
it is
starting
to rack
up
crimes
against
it, with
its
first
robbery.
On
Wednesday,
while
the
group of
workers
who have
been
busy
putting
the
stadium
together
were
sleeping,
two men
decided
to take
advantage
of the
situation
to steal
some 50
kg of
steel.
Police
making
their
rounds
of the
Sabana
park saw
the two
men in
action,
stuffing
black
bags
with
rolls of
steel
used in
the
construction.
The two
men fled
the
scene
before
being
caught
up by
the fact
action
of the
police
who were
also
able to
recover
the
material
which
was
clearly
identified
coming
from the
stadium
for its
markings
in
Chinese
and
identified
as
theirs
by the
Chinese
construction
company.
Last
month
the work
barricades
around
the
construction
site
were
removed,
exposing
the
stadium
to the
public
as the
work is
in the
finishing
stage of
construction.
This is
the
first
robbery
against
the new
stadium
that
will be
open in
the
first
half of
2011.
