The
National
Civilian
Police
(PNC) of
Guatemala
suffered
22
deaths
of
agents
in the
course
of the
year,
most
from
violence,
says a
report
Tuesday.
Half of
those
deaths
occurred
during
the
service
and the
other on
days
off,
according
to the
spokesman
of PNC,
Donald
Gonzalez
who was
quoted
by the
press.
In its
online
edition
the
newspaper
Prensa
Libre
mentioned
the case
of a
31-years
officer
whose
body was
found,
already
in a
state of
decomposition,
in a
suitcase
abandoned
on a
highway
in the
outskirts
of the
capital.
The
victim's
partner
who is
also a
member
of the
PNC,
related
how he
left his
home
last Mar
31 when
he was
off duty
and did
not
return,
says the
newspaper.
The
official
who has
a degree
in
criminology,
had said
she had
problems
with
members
of their
group in
the
Patrol
Police
Brigade,
but did
not
elaborate
on that.
Unofficial
estimates
indicate
that 60
policemen
or more
were
killed
in
attacks,
clashes
or from
behind
by the
crime
during
2010. |
