Costa
Rica To
Strengthen
Border
Security
With
Nicaragua,
Whatever
The
Hague
Decision
Costa
Rican
presidenta,
Laura
Chinchilla,
announced
Friday
that
security
along
the
Nicaragua
border
will be
strengthened
regardless
of the
International
Court
decision
that is
due on
March 8.
"As a
country
we are
with
total
determination
to
strengthen
the
presence
of
security
forces,
even if
the
ruling
is
favourable",
Chinchilla
said
after a
tour of
the
facilities
of the
company
Terrapez
in
Bebedero
and
several
other
cities
in
Guanacaste.
In
addition,
the
presidenta
stressed
that the
country
cannot
break
its
border
defense
if the
International
Court of
Justice
(ICJ)
hands
down a
favourable
decision.
"I think
if we
are a
mature
country
we
should
not
forget
what
happened,
thus we
have
determined
that our
(Security)
presence
should
be
strengthened",
said
Chinchilla.
