Millionaire Business Tax Evasion Reported in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES - Companies and individuals engaged in the business of the breast prosthesis in Argentina failed to pay more than10 million USD for tax evasion for a year, a government report said.

Initial assessments of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) assume that the amount is approximately 40 million pesos (over 10 million USD) only by breaking the income tax.

In reviewing the period 2008-2009, the tax agency found that breast implants imports reached about 125,000 units that are valued at 60 million pesos (more than 15 million USD).

Meanwhile, surgical interventions with these accessories reported revenue of 700 million pesos (over 176 million USD).

The National Drugs, Food and Medical Technology in the country said that there are no manufacturers of breast implants in the country, but at least nine companies are allowed to import them.

These kits are usually purchased in markets like France, Brazil and the United States the AFIP said.
