"Too
Many
Concerts"
Reason
For
Denying
Red
Hot
Chili
Peppers
National
Stadium
The
large
number
of
concerts
and
its
impact
on
the
new
installations
of
the
Estadio
Nacional
(National
Stadium)
was
the
argument
used
by
the
Instituto
Costarricense
del
Deporte
y la
Recreación
(Icoder)
-
Costa
Rican
Institute
of
Sport
and
Recreation
- to
deny
the
American
band,
Red
Hot
Chili
Peppers,
a
concert
date
in
Colossus
in
La
Sabana.
Luis
Peraza,
director
of
the
Icoder,
said
that
protecting
the
new
facilities,
especially
the
athletics
track,
is
their
principal
objective
and
for
such
decided
not
to
give
Evenpro,
the
promoter
for
the
band,
permission
to
use
the
stadium.
"We
have
three
back-to-back
concerts
and
decided
that
was
enough.
From
the
beginning
we
talked
about
six
a
year
and
so
far
we
have
had
three",
said
Peraza.
Duh,
what
is a
stadium
for?
Perasa
is
emphatic
that
it
is
not
convenient
to
allow
in
the
stadium
so
many
concerts,
that
is
preference
should
be
given
to
sports
activities
in
the
stadium,
ahead
of
commercial
interests
like
a
concert.
The
Red
Hot
Chili
Peppers
announced
a
September
12
date
at
the
National
Stadium.
Booked
at
the
stadium
is
the
Juan
Luis
Guerra
on
Agusut
25
and
Judas
Priest
for
September
27
and
Pearl
Jam
for
November
20,
although
the
Pearl
Jam
date
is
omly
tentative.
Evenpro
head
José
Cañas
said
on
Sunday
that
he
was
shocked
at
the
news
and
was
waiting
to
be
notified
officially
by
stadium
authorities.
"The
concert
will
go
on
as
scheduled,
if
not
at
the
Nacional,
at
another
location",
said
Cañas.
Evenpro
has
set
a
date
of
July
11
to
start
selling
tickets
for
the
concert,
with
preference
going
to
customers
of
Credomatic
between
July
12
and
17
and
then
the
general
public
starting
on
July
18.
Evenpro
is
one
of
the
largest
concert
promoters
in
Central
America.
Cañas
said
his
company
is a
"serious"
company
and
if
the
National
is
out,
it
will
find
a
suitable
location
for
the
concert,
suggesting
the
Saprissa
as a
possibility.
