First
Gasoline
Price
Drop
Takes
Effect
Today
The
first
of
what
is
hoped
to
be a
series
of
drops
in
gasoline
prices
took
effect
this
morning,
when
gasoline
retailers
changed
their
prices
downwards
on
super
and
regular
gasoline,
while
increasing
the
price
of
diesel.
The
drop
was
approved
last
week
by
the
Autoridad
Reguladora
de
los
Servicios
Públicos
(Aresep),
which
is
currently
reviewing
the
possibility
of
more
drops
in
the
coming
months.
This
morning
a
litre
of
super
gasoline
costs
¢712
colones,
¢28
less
than
yesterday;
a
litre
of
regular
¢691,
35
less;
while
a
litre
of
diesel
sells
for
¢653,
an
increase
of
¢26
over
the
day
before.
Natural
gas
and
aviation
fuels
also
dropped.
This
is
the
first
price
drop
for
the
year
after
a
series
of
increases
brought
prices
to
record
levels.
Gasoline
prices
in
Costa
Rica
are
regulated,
the
Aresep
fixing
the
price
which
is
applied
at
all
gasoline
stations
across
the
country,
who
buy
fuel
products
from
the
Refinadora
Costarricense
de
Petroelo
(Recope)
-
the
state
refinery
that
in
effect
does
not
refine
anything,
rather
it
imports
finished
gasoline
products
from
abroad.
