Costa
Rica's
First
Pole-Dancing
Retreat
Costa
Rica
is a
hotbed
for
yoga
and
surfing
retreats,
but
a
Montezuma
is
adding
a
unique
twist,
ok
twirl,
pole
dancing.
The
Anamaya
Resort
announces
what
it
calls
"Flirty
Girl
Fitness
Retreat,
which
includes
daily
pole
dancing
lessons
as
well
as
additional
dancing
classes
that
include
chair
dance,
burlesque,
and
something
called
video
vixen.
In
addition
to
all
of
these
sexy,
sweaty
workouts
the
retreat
includes
morning
yoga
sessions
and
a
“Booty
Beat
Certification.”
Booty
Beat
is a
popular
cardio
dance
class,
and
after
this
7-day
retreat
the
students
will
receive
a
Flirty
Girl
Fitness
Booty
Beat
instructor
certification
and
be
able
to
teach
this
fun
new
workout
back
at
home.
This
Pole
Dancing
and
Yoga
Retreat
takes
place
in
November
of
2011
and
will
probably
be
the
first
of
many
considering
the
popularity
of
pole-dancing
as a
form
of
exercise.
Surf
Retreats
are
also
very
popular
in
Costa
Rica
and
in
places
like
Montezuma
and
nearby
Malpais,
surfing
is
truly
a
way
of
life
and
Anamaya
has
that
also.
Health
and
wellness
vacations
are
increasing
in
popularity,
especially
in
Costa
Rica.
Pole
Dancing
Pole
dance
is a
form
of
performing
art,
a
combination
of
dance
and
gymnastics.
It
involves
dancing
and
performing
acrobatic
tricks
with
a
vertical
pole
and
is
an
increasingly
popular
form
of
fitness
and
dance,
practised
by
many
enthusiasts
in
gyms
or
dedicated
dance
studios.
A
wide
range
of
amateur
and
professional
competitions
are
held
in
many
countries
around
the
world.
Before
the
mid
2000s,
pole
dance
mainly
took
place
in
strip
clubs.
Since
then,
promoters
of
pole
dance
fitness
competitions
have
been
trying
to
change
peoples’
perception
of
pole
dance
and
to
promote
it
as a
legitimate
form
of
dance
and
fitness.
Since
then,
pole
dance
has
increasingly
been
influenced
by
Chinese
pole,
a
form
of
acrobatics
that
is
performed
in
cabaret/circus
and
stage
performances
in a
non-erotic
environment.
Pole
dance
in
competitions
and
dance/fitness
classes
often
contains
sensual
dance
movement
but
is
increasingly
combined
with
a
range
of
non-erotic
dance
styles
or
gymnastics. |
