Salvador:
national
campaign
against
dengue
fever

Salvador's
Health
Minister,
María
Isabel
Rodríguez,
announced
the
start
of a
new
national
dengue
prevention
campaign
despite
the
fall
in
the
number
of
infected
people.
Rodríguez
said
that
since
May
21st
there
have
been
682
cases
with
the
classical
variant
of
the
illness
reported,
less
than
in
the
same
period
of
last
year.
She
also
added
that
although
the
number
is
fairly
low;
the
campaign
is
aimed
at
preventing
the
figure
from
increasing
considering
the
onset
of
the
rainy
season.
She
also
warned
that
the
larval
index
of
the
dengue
transmitting
mosquito
is
the
same
in
the
whole
nation:
13,1
percent,
when
the
advisable
number
is 4
percent.
She
also
said
that
during
the
campaign
the
mosquitoâ�Ös
breeding
grounds
will
be
eliminate,
and
fumigation
actions
will
be
made. |
