Costa Rica's Selección Loses Tow Players in Days

The Selección Nacional de Costa Rica (Costa Rica's national soccer team) loses another player, this time goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado, who took a flight out of Costa Rican on Saturday, a day after being mentioned as a possible murder suspect.

Alvarado boarded an Iberia flight with non-stop service to Spain from the Juan Santamaria international airport the day following a news report by local news channel 7, Telenoticias, of information that goalie was to appear in a Heredia court this week.

Immigration sources confirm the goalie's departure from Costa Rica.

Alvarado is facing criminal charges for abuse, coercion and attempted murder following a complaint filed by a womanidentified only by her last name Juarez. The television news report showed the woman's lawyer telling the cameras that her client had filed charges against Alvarado

The other loss occurred on Thursday when Dennis Marshall, a rising star in the Selección crashed his vehicle head on with a tractor trailer on Ruta 32. Both Marshall and his wife were killed in the accident.
