Confirms
Nicaraguan
Troops
Gone
From
Isla
Calero
The
Dirección
de
Inteligencia
y
Seguridad
(DIC) -
Costa
Rica's
secret
spy
agency -
reports
that
Nicaraguan
troops
have
left the
conflict
zone as
ordered
by the
International
Court of
Justice
in The
Hague,
confirmed
by a fly
over of
the area
on
Wednesday,
a day
after
the
court
ruling.
The DIS
says it
flew
over the
Isla
Calero
and the
Barra
del
Colorado
and no
Nicaraguan
troops
could be
spotted,
confirming
the
troop
withdrawl.
The
vice-ministro
de la
Presidencia,
Mauricio
Boraschi
said it
was
confirmed
Nicaragua
has
respected
to the
decision
on
Tuesday
by the
International
Court.
Moreover,
the
environment
minister,
Teófilo
de la
Torre
said
that
within
ten days
a group
of
forest
resources
specialists
will be
in the
area to
to check
the
current
status
of the
affected
areas.
According
to the
decision
of the
International
Court of
Justice
only
Costa
Rican
civilian
personnel
can
enter
the
wetlands
under
the
Ramsar
Convention.
