French
Tourist
Couple
Still
Missing
in Costa
Rica Two
Months
After
Their
Disappearance
It's
been two
months
since
Gerard
and
Claude
Dubois
arrived
at the
Juan
Santamaría
(San
José)
airport
and
since
the 65
year old
French
couple
have
gone
missing
in Costa
Rica.
And
police
have no
clue of
what has
happened
to them.
The
couple
was
visiting
Costa
Rica
from
Paris
when
they
went
missing
in the
Central
Pacific
town of
Quepos.
Authorities
have
been
able to
piece
together
their
last
movements,
seen
leaving
a "soda"
in
Quepos
on their
way to
Manuel
Antonio,
7
kilometres
away, at
the
point
over the
Naranjo
river.
From
there
the
trail
gets
cold.
It
appears
that is
where
the
couple
parked
their
rented
vehicle,
a green
Daihatsu
Terios.
The
couple
have not
been
seen
since
checking
out
their
hotel on
March
31, less
than a
week
after
arriving.
This was
the
first
visit
for the
retired
couple,
a visit
that was
to have
lasted
three
weeks.
Authorities
investigating
the
disappearance
of the
couple
have
since
learned
that the
couple
seen
near the
Naranjo
river
was not
the
Dubois,
but
another
couple
with
similar
characteristics.
The
witness
account
to the
Organismo
de
Investigacion
Judicial
(OIJ) is
one of
the
employees
working
on
bridge.
What is
puzzling
to
investigators
is that
they
have
found no
clothing
or other
evidence
of a
drowning,
one of
the
theories
of the
authorities.
The
river
was
searched,
a nearby
pond was
drained
and
nothing.
The
couple's
rented
vehicle
was
parked
for five
days
before
an area
resident
alerted
police.
The
vehicle
had a
broken
window,
the
radio
was
missing
as well
as the
emergency
kit
required
by law,
according
to the
car
rental
agency.
Their
passports
were
found in
a
garbage
bin in
Playa
Jacó,
some 45
minutes
from
Quepos.
But
nowhere
were the
couple's
credit
cards,
cash (if
nay) or
other
ID.
The OIJ
confirmed
that the
couple's
credit
card
were
used
five
days
after
they had
gone
missing,
authorities
would
only say
that
they
cards
were
used
several
times
but
would
not
reveal
where
and what
was
purchased.
The case
is still
open and
being
investigated.
