2011 Census Takers Fought Some Obstacles On Their First Day

The rain and difficult access to condominiums and no one home were the major obstacles of day one of the Censo 2011 (Census) for census takers.

Kick off of 2011 census took place at the private home of Costa Rica's presidenta, Laura Chinchilla.

The opening ceremony of the Census took place at the private home of Costa Rica's presidenta, Laura Chinchilla, who took 28 minutes to complete the survey.

It is estimated that census takers will visit some 1.3 million homes across the country with an estimated population of 4.650.000.

If there are doubt as to identity of the census takes or the questionnaire, call 800 23676 2011.

Once a home has been taken into the census, the resident is asked to place a sticker visible to the outside to let census takers that has already been surveyed.
