Vatican
Asks
Costa
Rica's
To
Explain
Ban
on
In
Vitro
Fertilization
Costa
Rica's
Foreign
Minister,
Enrique
Castillo,
has
been
called
to
the
carpet
by
the
Vatican
to
explain
why
Costa
Rica
is
outlawing
in
vitro
fertilization.
The
meeting
was
with
Monsignor
Dominique
Mamberti.
Chancellor
Castillo
told
the
press
that
the
Vatican
has
been
made
fully
aware
of
Costa
Rica's
position
on
the
subject.
In
2000
Costa
Rica's
Constitutional
Court
banned
in
vitro
fertilization
(IVF)
on
the
grounds
that
it
threatened
life
Now
Costa
Rica
faces
a
legal
process
by
the
American
Court
of
Human
Rights
in
the
case
after
the
country's
legislators
could
not
pass
a
bill
to
allow
IVF. |
