conflict
unleashed

Bajo
Aguan
caused
the
death
of
nearly
44
people,
a
figure
that
can
be
higher
in
accordance
with
human
rights
champions
and
peasants,
El
Heraldo
newspaper
noted.
According
to
El
Heraldo
newspaper
unofficial
figure,
nearly
20
peasants,
15
security
guards,
2
policemen,
a
soldier,
5
painters
and
a
judge
died
during
one
of
the
bloodiest
clashes
of
the
agricultural
history
in
Honduras.
These
and
other
crimes
have
gone
unpunished,
so
the
members
of
the
Association
of
Judges
and
Magistrates
requested
Minister
of
Security,
Pompeyo
Bonilla,
to
provide
responses
related
to
the
crimes.
A
tense
atmosphere
prevails
in
Bajo
Aguan
due
to
the
presence
of
police
and
military
forces,
whose
members
have
been
accused
several
times
of
mistreating
and
arresting
children.
According
to
peasants
of
the
region,
Bajo
Aguan
seems
to
be
"a
war
zone"
due
to
the
presence
of
repressive
officers,
sent
by
the
government
several
months
ago,

reported.
