The Pet Seat Story Was A Spoof!

No, Costa Rica has not gone to the dogs. Our story on Monday, Costa Rica: New Transit Law Requires Seats For Pets, was a spoof on the news, originating from a website no.ticiero.com - with the emphasis on the NO - dedicated to writing stories we would like to read.

Some of the amusing stories include the latest study by the Departamento de Investigación de la Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social de Costa Rica (CCS) that reavals that the cause of pregnancies in Costa Rica is by people having sex. The study points up that they found that women who became pregnant had sex during the year before the pregnancy and that immaculate conception was only in 0.00000000000000000001% of the cases.

Or, that the MOPT is going to "definitely" fix every and pothole in the country, the Cerveceria (brewery) says it is OK to go and drink and drive, motivated by the falling sales due to the strict no drinking driving laws. The cerveceria says it has been a target of "no consumption" campaigns and will be spending up to half million dollar to provide free taxis to drinkers.

But, our favourite is the article on the International Court of Justice in The Hague ruling on the Costa Rica - Nicaragua conflict of the San Juan river.

The Court decided that the solution would be to form a new country, one that will be inhabited by only Rafael Matarrita and Manuel Piedras, who will have the responsibility to form a constitution and be in a position to dictate to both Costa Rica and Nicaragua the navigation rules of the river San Juan.

The no.ticiero.com, a fake news site not unlike The Onion, is a great morning picker-upper, bringing us stories we would certainly love to read about our loved Costa Rica.

Editor's note: Our apologies to one and all who did not get our weird sense of humour!
