July Was A "Moving" Month In Costa Rica

On average three earthquakes a day rattled and rolled Costa Rica in July. According to the Red Sismológica Nacional (RSN) - National Seismological Network - at least 91 tremors were recorded for the month.

The RSN says the movements in July were similar to June when a similar number of earthquakes were recorded, but some 72 less than in May, when the average was 5.4 tremors daily.

The most active day in July was on the 10th, when 8 events were registered. By contrast, the days with little or no activity were the 8th, 24th and 29th.

The strongest quake recorded was a 4.3 on the Richter scale, that earthquake occurring on the 22nd, in the Pacific ocean, south of Punta Burica.

The average magnitude in July was 3.4, slightly lower than the average of 3.5 in June.
