Problems
The
Policía
de
Tránsito
(traffic
police)
closed
an
eastbound
lane
(Alajuela-San
José)
of
the
autopista
General
Cañas,
for
a
possible
new
collapse
in
front
of
Los
Arcos
residential.

The
closure
is
at
the
same
location
where
a
sinkhole
took
out
two
westbound
lanes
at
the
end
of
June.
According
to
transit
authorities,
the
closure
is a
preventive
measure
due
to
the
heavy
rains
of
the
last
several
days.
On
Thursday
crews
of
the
Consejo
Nacional
de
Vialidad
(Conavi)
will
be
working
around
the
clock
in
repairing
the
sinkhole
and
will
be
closing
the
autopista
nightly
from
10pm
to
5am
from
Cariari
to
La
Castella
bridge.

Authorities
are
asking
for
drivers
to
slow
down
through
the
area
and
to
use
alternate
routes
if
at
all
possible.
The
repair
work
will
continue
to
the
end
of
the
year,
when
the
two
Bailey
bridges
now
moving
traffic
will
be
completed
removed
and
the
road
surface
restored.
