La
Platina
Bridge
Problem
Gets
Worse
The
bridge
over
the
Virilla
river
on
the
autopista
General
Cañas,
known
as
La
Platina,
continues
to
cause
problems
for
tens
of
thousands
of
drivers
daily.
If
you
will
recall,
after
several
attempts
to
repair
the
bridge
we
were
left
with
a
bridge
in a
sad
state
of
condition.

The
last
repair,
costing
more
than
US$2
million
dollars,
didn't
solve
the
problems.
If
fact
the
concrete
used
in
the
repair
began
crumbling
within
days
of
the
job
completion
and
the
contractor
to
abandon
the
project.
Since
last
year
the
metal
grate
holding
the
concrete
became
exposed
as
the
concrete
continued
crumbling.
This
week
the
problem
passed
from
concerning
to
serious,
as
the
photos
reveal.
