Work On Autopista Advancing, San José - Alajuela Lanes Open

Working around the clock more than 25 people are responsible for erecting the Bailey bridge in the Alajuela - San José direction of the autopista General Cañas. According to authorities the work is advancing faster than expected and the autopista should be re-opened on schedule Tuesday morning.



A spokesperson for MECO, the contractor for the job, the moment you start placing the tiles and cover it with an asphalt layer, the work is complete.

on Friday the Consejo Nacional de Vialidad (CONAVI) has announced a total closure of the autopista. However, the San José - Alajuela lanes are open to traffic, while those travelling from Alajuela will have to detour through Heredia or Ruta 27, the San José - Caldera.

The autopista is expected to be fully opened in both directions by 5am Tuesday.
