China
and
Travels

Rican
Presidenta
Laura
Chinchilla,
spoke
with
authorities
in
the
province
of
Shaanxi
in
the
final
stage
of
her
visit
to
China,
after
which
she
traveled
to
South
Korea,
the
other
stage
of a
tour
that
began
in
Shanghai.

In
Shaanxi
the
Presidenta
and
her
delegation
held
talks
with
Zhao
Zhengyong,
governor
of
the
territory,
with
which
she
hopes
to
expand
cooperation
in
education,
energy
and
construction
of
infrastructure.
They
also
visited
the
Museum
of
Terracotta
Warriors
and
Horses
of
Emperor
Qin
Shihuang,
the
old
city
wall
of
Xian,
the
provincial
capital,
and
other
historic
sites,
according
to
information
from
the
site.
Chinchilla
traveled
to
Shaanxi
after
caring
out
a
busy
program
in
Beijing,
where
she
also
attended
a
business
forum
to
promote
trade
and
investment
opportunities,
including
the
country
as a
tourist
destination,
and
the
ceremony
of
the
signing
of
several
cooperation
agreements
in
fields
like
health,
agriculture,
oil
and
air
services
(training).
Another
refers
to
the
beginning
of a
strategic
partnership
with
a
view
to
building
a
special
economic
zone
in
Costa
Rica.
Besides
these
agreements
there
was
an
understanding
memorandum
for
co-organizing
the
VII
Business
Summit
China-Latin
America,
to
be
held
in
San
Jose
next
year.
In
all
these
meetings,
the
parties
congratulated
the
progress
in
bilateral
relations,
first
between
China
and
a
Central
American
country,
established
on
June
1,
2007.
These
links
include
a
free
trade
agreement
signed
in
April
2010
and
in
force
since
August
last
year.
These
week
contacts
will
mark
the
beginning
of a
new
stage
in
the
bilateral
relations,
which
have
among
other
developments,
a
visit
here
in
October
2007
of
the
then
President
Oscar
Arias,
reciprocated
by
Hu
in
November
of
the
following
year.
