Wanted Con Artist Arrested
A man wanted by authorities for conning the elderly was arrested yesterday morning on 12th Avenue in San Jose.
Authorities say the man, Happer Giovanni Mena, would make contact with
his elderly victims claiming a family member owed him money. The
suspect would apparently know the names and other information about his
victims’ family members prior to committing the cons.
Authorities also say that Mena is wanted on about 30 charges of robbery
and theft. In addition, prosecutors in Heredia, Alajuela, and
Cartago also report cases pending against the suspect.
The suspect has been given six months of preventive detention.
