After
Earth
is
the
latest
Will
Smith
film,
parts
of
which
will
be
shot
in
Costa
Rica
starting
February
6th.
Industry
reports
that
the
crew
has
already
left
for
Costa
Rica,
with
Smith
and
his
son,
Jaden,
following
in
the
coming
days.
The
movie’s
screen
writer,
Gary
Whitta,
has
tweeted
about
the
shoot,
saying
"This
week
the
AFTER
EARTH
cast
&
crew
moves
to
Costa
Rica
to
begin
filming!
Then
onto
Philadelphia,
Utah,
and
Northern
California".
The
movie
is
set
in a
future
in
which
humans
no
longer
live
on
Earth
after
it
becomes
inhospitable.
Will
Smith
is
playing
a
hero,
while
Jaden
Smith
(his
real
life
son)
plays
his
on
screen
son,
a
failure
as a
warrior.
When
the
two
crash-land
on
Earth,
it’s
up
to
Jaden’s
character
to
save
his
dad.
This
is
not
the
first
time
the
superstar
is
coming
to
Costa
Rica,
last
July
Smith
was
spotted
vacationing
in
Costa
Rica
(see
report)
and
possibly
scouting
a
film
location.
Smith
and
several
others
visited
the
area
of
La
Fortuna
and
Guanacaste.
The
filming
location(s)
has
not
been
released.
