Killings
of
Women
Continue
in
Honduras
More
than
30
women
have
been
killed
in
Honduras
so
far
this
year,
announced
the
Special
Attorney
for
Women
within
the
Public
Ministry
on
Friday.
According
to
special
attorney
Grissel
Amaya,
29
women
were
reported
killed
violently
just
in
January,
and
estimated
that
one
of
those
deaths
occurs
every
day
in
Honduras.
Seven
women
have
been
killed
early
this
month,
said
Amaya,
and
urged
the
government
to
improve
the
prevention
programs
against
widespread
violence.
The
attorney
said
that
the
Francisco
Morazan
central
department
reports
the
highest
number
of
killings
of
women.
Though
the
killings
occur
in
circumstances
yet
to
be
clarified,
security
institutions
will
continue
investigating
those
crimes.
Amaya
urged
the
government
to
meet
with
the
Criminal
Investigation
Direction,
the
Secretariat
of
Human
Rights
and
women
organizations
in
order
to
take
special
prevention
measures. |
