Guatemala:
More
Chemicals
for
Synthetic
Drugs
Seized
A
new
capture
of
chemical
precursors
for
synthetic
drugs
took
place
in
Guatemala,
as
reported
by
the
authorities
Thursday,
to
confirm
the
increase
of
the
traffic
of
drugs
in
the
country.
The
Guatemalan
anti-narcotics
police
discovered
80
barrels
with
chemical
precursors,
valued
in
12.48
million
quetzals
(more
than
1.59
million
dollars)
in a
small
town
of
Puerto
Barrios,
north-eastern
department
of
Izabal,
with
coasts
in
the
Atlantic
Ocean.
The
load,
which
had
been
labelled
as
mineral
product,
was
possibly
coming
from
a
Honduran
company,
and
its
destiny
was
an
importing
company
in
this
capital,
according
to
the
reports.
The
containers,
with
24
gallons
each,
were
in a
vehicle
left
by
its
conductor,
close
to
the
border
with
Honduras.
Since
the
middle
of
last
year,
the
capture
of
such
precursors
for
drugs
like
crack,
ecstasies,
grew
in
Guatemala,
a
place
in
which
several
labs
to
produce
these
drugs
were
dismantle.
These
places
were
located
next
to
the
border
with
Mexico,
that
is
used
as a
bridge
to
introduce
the
drugs
in
the
US
national
territory. |
