Relations

Rica's
Civil
Aviation
and
Juan
Santamaria
International
Airport's
concessionaires
and
managers
has
not
always
been
the
fondest,
but
it
appears
that
all
the
sturm
und
drang
has
been
worth
it.
The
Gineva,
Switzerland-based
Airport
Council
International
has
rated
the
new
facilities
the
third
best
in
Latin
America
and
the
Caribbean
from
the
point
of
view
of
passenger
service.
The
rating
is
the
result
of
interviews
ACI
conducted
with
350,000
passengers
using
more
than
1650
airports
in
179
countries
all
over
the
world.
In
Latin
America,
the
San
Jose
terminal
in
this
country
is
rated
only
behind
Cancun,
Mexico,
and
Guayaquil,
Ecuador.

of
the
airport
concessionaire
Aeris
received
word
of
the
ACI
results
Tuesday
afternoon.
This
award
is
reason
to
celebrate
the
teamwork
between
the
State
and
Aeris,"
he
told
La
Nacion.
Last
year
more
than
3
million
travelers
passed
through
the
airport.
Aeris
has
invested
some
$40
million
in
modernizing
the
facilities.
Aeris
took
over
management
and
improvement
from
the
facilities
after
Aviation
Civil
had
stormy
relations
with
the
previous
concessionaires
who
finally
withdrew
voluntarily.
