On
Future
Melon
producers
in
Costa
Rica
say
that
production
may
soon
disappear,
partly
due
to
few
tools
to
compete
internationally
and
the
high
cost
of
production.

Producers
say
they
are
facing
a
very
bad
situation,
with
many
considering
to
supplant
melon
crops
with
other
to
generate
higher
income.
The
producers
say
they
are
doing
their
best
to
keep
producing
the
fruit
on
Costa
Rican
soil,
but
there
is
real
danger
that
the
production
will
soon
be
gone
completely,
this
despite
the
"Good
market
expected
for
Costa
Rican
melons"
report
by
Fresh
Plaza
last
March.
