Cuban piano player and composer Frank Fernandez was homaged by the Council of the municipality of Panama City, which declared him a Distinguished Guest of Honor, because of the merits accumulated in his artistic career.

Fernandez received a diploma accrediting him as Distinguished Guest of Honor in a ceremony at the host building of the municipality, with the presence of the main officials of the entity, representatives of the Cuban Embassy in Panama and other personalities.

Ivan Picota, president of the Council, said Frank Fernandez is recognized in the whole world, not only for his performance of all musical genders, but also for his contribution to teaching piano playing and a wide work, from investigations up to musical promotion.

Being grateful for the homage, Fernandez said he took it not as a personal recognition, but as a representative of the Cuban people, and as an admirer of his Panamanian colleagues, who show the richness of the folklore and great musical values of Panama.

He said that in the ceremony, the local authorities gave him an invitation for a presentation at the National Theater for the benefit of poor children, an invitation Fernandez accepted immediately, and only the date is to be set.

Frank Fernandez is in Panama, coming from Colombia, after a successful presentation there.
