Costa
Rica's
Farmers
Take
To
The
Streets
Today
Just
when
you
thought
it
was
OK
to
go
back
to
San
José
today
following
yesterday's
protest
by
ICE
workers,
farmers
and
ranchers
will
take
to
the
streets
today.

ICE
workers
took
to
the
streets
on
Monday
Although
the
protest
won't
be
as
big
as
Mondays,
it
is
sure
to
cause
traffic
havoc
in
downtown
centre
and
surrounding
areas.
Guido
Vargas,
head
of
the
Unión
Nacional
de
Pequeños
y
Medianos
Agricultores
(Upanacional),
said
they
expect
this
to
be
largest
of
protests
in
the
country,
as
the
sector
is
well
organized
and
united
against
the
cause:
a
call
to
reduce
property
taxes
for
agricultural
lands
by
80%.
The
protest
which
will
start
in
San
José
Parque
Central
(Central
Park),
move
along
Avenida
Segunda
and
end
up
in
front
of
the
Legislative
Assembly
building
several
blocks
away.
Farmers
and
ranchers
from
around
the
country,
including
agro
producers
from
Guanacaste
and
Limón,
are
expected
to
join
in.
The
protest
is
not
against
the
government,
for
the
administration
of
Laura
Chinchilla
supports
the
position
of
the
farmers,
but
rather
against
legislators.
