How
To
Waste
¢1.5
billion
Colones?
Well,
the
city
of
Alajuela
has
a jump
on
this.
The
city
will
now
have
to
spend
more
money
to
remove
the
paving
stones
it
spent
¢1.5
billion
colones
to
install
and
all
for
lack
of
maintenance.

The
situation
with
the
stones
is
such
that
it
has
become
a
source
of
traffic
congestion
in
the
middle
of
the
city
on a
stretch
of a
couple
of
city
blocks
between
the
municipal
offices
and
the
Santamaría
park.
The
stones
did
not
resist
the
passage
of
vehicles,
possibly
to
poor
installation,
but
definitely
to
the
lack
of
maintenance.
City
traffic
officials
have
to
learn
that
you
just
can't
lay
down
a
road
surface,
have
thousands
of
vehicles
pass
over
it
each
day
and
last
the
test
of
time
and
weather
conditions.
According
to
experts,
the
based
used
for
the
stones
was
inadequate
and
combined
with
poor
road
planning
resulted
in a
waste
of
resources.
Now,
the
city,
by
mid-August
it
says,
is
forced
to
once
again
shut
down
this
major
city
centre
artery
and
spend
more
billions
to
fix
the
problem.
And
that
is
not
to
speak
of
the
ensuing
traffic
chaos
that
will
last
at
least
two
months.
