A
man
to
be
considered
a
high-risk
fugitive
by
Idaho
authorities
has
been
captured
in
Costa
Rica
after
more
than
five
years
on
the
run.

The
Idaho
Department
of
Correction
says
John
Michael
Brennan,
41,
was
taken
into
custody
after
being
located
by
the
U.S.
Marshals
Service.
Brennan
disappeared
in
February
of
2007.
He
was
on
probation
for
sexual
battery
of a
minor
- 16
or
17
years
of
age
- in
Ada
County.
Costa
Rican
authorities
detained
Brennan
and
returned
him
to
the
U.S.
on
Tuesday.
He
now
is
being
held
in a
jail
in
San
Bernardino,
Calif.,
awaiting
extradition
to
Idaho.
“We
are
grateful
to
the
Marshals
Service
for
helping
us
capture
Brennan,”
said
Christina
Iverson,
supervisor
of
IDOC’s
Fugitive
Recovery
Unit.
“He
committed
a
serious
crime
and
he
needs
to
face
justice.”
In
2006,
Brennan
was
sentenced
to
five
to
15
years
on
the
sexual
battery
charge,
but
the
sentence
was
suspended.
He
faces
additional
charges
for
absconding
from
probation
and
fleeing
the
country.
