Costa Rica's Health Issues Dengue Alert

According to the Ministerio de Salud (Ministry of Health), at least 15 people a week are treated for Dengue at medical centres across the country and with nearly three thousand cases reported.

The most affected areas are the provinces of Limón (Caribbean coast) and Puntarenas (Pacific coast) with 63% of all cases reported.

So far Health officials only report 3 cases of Hemorrhagic Dengue.

The Ministerio de Salud emphasizes the participation of the community to reduce mosquito breeding sites, as well as calls to report places where tires are being dumped or area accumulating without being protected from the rain.
