The host officer said to the press at the International Airport José Martí that the recent developments on the continent do not take him by surprise.

He recalled that the coup in Chile in 1973 was not planned or organized by Augusto Pinochet; and the documents that would show the role played by the United States through the Secretary of State Henry Kissinger have not been declassified.

Even then, the coup was so discredited as a method, that mechanisms of democratic freedoms, and certificates of good conduct granted by Washington emerged, said Raul Castro.

Years ago, he added, I was reflecting with Fidel Castro and commented that the day when U.S. interests were threatened, coups would return to this continent, and they have returned, but in disguise.

Previously, Raul Castro officially received Alexander Lukashenko, who was satisfied after the signature between Havana and Minsk of agreements and memoranda of cooperation in areas such as public health, agriculture and industry.
