Rica
Announces
Ambassador
To
Nicaragua
Despite
that
relations
between
Costa
Rica
and
Nicaragua
have
yet
to
recover
following
the
October
2010
alleged
invasion
of
the
Isla
Calero
by
the
neighbour
to
the
north,
Costa
Rica
has
announced
an
ambassador
for
Nicaragua.
Presidenta
Laura
Chinchilla,
following
a
cabinet
meeting
Tuesday,
announced
the
appointment
of
Javier
Sancho
as
Costa
Rica's
ambassador
to
Nicaragua.
But,
there
are
conditions.
The
President
said
that
Nicaragua
has
to
demonstrate
that
it
is
fully
complying
with
the
measures
established
by
the
International
Court
of
Justice
in
The
Hague
with
respect
to
the
Calero
conflict
between
the
two
countries.
Sancho,
who
is
currently
the
Director
of
Protocol
at
the
Foreign
Minister
will
be
credited
in
the
coming
days
and
will
move
into
the
post
within
the
next
two
months.
Costa
Rica
does
not
currently
have
an
ambassador
in
Managua.
