Career
With
the
OIJ
Following
almost
four
decades
with
the
Poder
Judicial,
the
Director
del
Organismo
de
Investigación
Judicial
(OIJ),
Jorge
Rojas,
said
goodbye
on
Friday,
handing
over
the
reigns
of
the
country's
judicial
police,
OIJ
deputy
director,
Francisco
Segura.
On
Monday
a
nominating
committee
will
announce
a
public
competition
to
choose
a
new
director.
Rojas,
began
working
at
the
OIJ
in
1974,
where
he
served
in
the
Sección
de
Inspecciones
Oculares,
the
crime
scene
investigations
unit.
In a
few
years
he
moved
to
the
OIJ
headquarters,
excelling
in
the
robbery-assault
division,
traffic
section
adn
then
headed
the
department
of
criminal
investigations.
In
1997
he
was
named
deputy
director
after
heading
the
Alajuela
delegation
of
the
OIJ.
On
November
12,
2001,
he
was
named
as
new
director,
assuming
his
duties
in
January
2002,
a
post
he
held
until
yesterday.
Some
of
the
requirements
of
the
post
of
Director
of
the
OIJ
are
having
a
law
degree,
courses
in
criminology
and
administration
and
must
belong
to
the
Colegio
de
Abogados
(Bar
Association),
among
others.
The
new
director
will
be
announced
within
the
next
three
months.
