San José - Caldera Highway: Protests and Inauguration
Finally, after more than three decades of planning, promises, starts, stops and delays, the San José - Caldera highway, though some prefer to call it a road, is a reality and travel between the interior of Costa Rica and the Pacific coast is at least 45 minutes faster.  In the foto the first vehicles to cross the highway from Orotina to San José, minutes following the inauguration ceremony.

The Inside Costa Rica cameras were on hand at sundown at Playa Jacó, taking in the action of the last minutes of sunlight before the sky goes black and the night transforms Jacó. Photos were taken on Saturday 23 January between 5:25pm and 5:55pm.

Playa Hermosa, not as popular or fast paced as it's neighbour Playa del Coco, it is a great place to relax and enjoy a stress free day in Costa Rica. The beach is well kept by local community groups and businesses and is easily accessible to one an all. Hermosa is located 10 kilometres north of Coco. From the main highway from Liberia, make a right at the Do It Centre, then a left only 0.5 kilometres and follow the paved road to Playa Panama.

Tope Nacional: Beer, Women and Party Time  View all fotos >
Tope Nacional or what could be described at the largest outdoor beer party in the country was held in San José on Saturday 26 December 2009. The heat and bright sun shining down on the participants and spectators added to the cooling effect of a cold "cerveza", the skimpily dressed women, as they watched more than 4.000 horses that took party in the party.

Canada's Governor General, Michaelle Jean, on her first official visit of Costa Rica. The GG arrived in Costa Rica on December 12 , accompanied by her husband Jean-Daniel Lafond, for a three day state visit that included a tour of two San José neighbourhoods, an address of the Costa Rican legislature and visits and meetings with several native groups and Canadian associations and organizations in Costa Rica, highlighting the strong and varied relations anchored by the Canada-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement

For Olman Jimenéz Solís living under a bridge is a way of life.  Olman was evicted from his first home under the river bridge on the autopista Próspero Fernández in Piedades de Santa Ana in December 2007 as part of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT) clean up of some 20 families living under bridges on the San José - Santa Ana highway.

Saturday morning more than 1.000 women began their day in front of the Iglesia de la Merced in San José to walk to La Sabana park, while hundreds more around San José, walked or ran to participate in the activities against breast cancer that was programmed by the Fundación Ana Ross.

At 10:00 am on Saturday the 19th of September, 7 men and 3 women stood at the starting line at Playa Nicoyana awaiting the starting whistle.  The calm water and sunny weather had all the competitors geared up for an exciting race.

David Gimelfarb, an American from Chicago traveled to Costa Rica in early August to explore the volcanic region within the Rincon de Veija National Park in Guanacaste. He went missing and was last seen entering the park on August 11, 2009 around 10:00 AM by the park ranger.
