Costa Rican Resort Is A Perfect Escape
By Jan Butsch Schroder, Travelgirl magazine
Next time I need to conjure up my happy place, it may just have to
be poolside at the Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa, in
Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Or should it be on the sailboat, cruising
the shore of the private bay on the Gulf of Papagayo? Or maybe on a
massage table at Spa Vida or dining on freshly caught seafood under
the stars? Any of these will do as this lovely resort induces a
peaceful tranquility no matter where you are on the 82-acre
property.
While tourism is booming just about everywhere in this lush Central
American country, this beautiful bay is the hot spot for luxurious
upscale properties. Just down the bay from the Hilton Papagayo
you'll find the Four Seasons, and The Mandarin Oriental is scheduled
to open this year. With the Liberia International Airport just 30
minutes away, the area is easy to access from the United States.
When you do want to leave the resort, the tour company Swiss Travel
has an office right next to the gift shop to book those zip-line
adventures or volcano tours. Bungalows at the resort are smartly
appointed with dark wooden furniture and bedding from the Hilton
Serenity Collection. For true luxury, try a junior suite that comes
with a private patio and its own plunge pool with a view of the
gulf.
The Hilton Papagayo is perfect for a romantic getaway – or if you
take the kids, take advantage of the Kidz Paradise program and the
policy of no additional charge for children. Once an all-inclusive,
on Dec. 1 the resort converted to regular lodging options.
