Deb you were right in wishing never to go there… I did to pass a kidney stone. I never saw a bed! They hooked me up to a drip and gave me some IV pain killer while sitting on a hard metal chair. The bathroom was filthy to the point of disgusting. No one looked as if they were awake let alone cared. It was demoralizing…. One thing that keeps foreign investment away from that area is the dread of having to seek treatment in Nicoya… very sad…

We live near Puntarenas and that hospital would be the one we would have to use if we needed that kind of medical care. Even before the earthquake damage that hospital was ghetto looking, like something you would see in South Bronx. I was praying I would never have to go there. So maybe this is a blessing, the earthquake will force the permanent closure and demolish it and build a new modern one like the one in Alajuela. Yea!
