By American standards no, but it is in line for CR. CR needs to get a economist and see if they could someway raise wages and salaries to the first world levels. All of Latin America was founded by Spain and all the latin countries are at third world levels of pay.I think it could be done with some planning and experimentation.CR needs to build a larger middle class.

In reality they all should be making a lot more colones, it is very very expensive to live here, not sure how they get by. Especially if they are the only wage earner in the house.

The problem is intrinsic; C.R. has always had a culture of “entitlement”. Everyone is entitled to whatever the laws allows them. And the laws are extremely generous in terms of employees rights and benefits. So it’s no wonder that salaries and benefits are way out of line. It’s a cultural issue that is so inbred that no one is willing to fight for change.
