Let’s see now, the tax for property went up, marchamo went up, valuation for vehicles went up, electric rates going up, sure appears that Costa Rica is trying to eliminate many residents in favor of monopoly business with very few customers. All I can say is, time to rethink all these increases as there has not been any increase in value for being here, services are pretty poor, as well as many other items that people think about before spending money to invest.

And add to all the previous comments the pretty darned poor service. Where I live, the juice goes off at least once every week to ten days or so. Not good for computers, refrigerators, and other living things.

Electricity bills in Costa Rica are in part a fee for consumption of electricity and in part indirect taxation. It is common knowledge that suplusses accumulated by ICE by over-charging for electricity consumption (indirect tax) act as a “slush” fund for the Government for transfers to General Revenue from time to time.

The CEO’S make millions a year plus “”performance”" bonuses. Then cry poor mouth. ICE is what I call white collar bandits. Knowing the government going to bail them out. And we here will pay dearly especially after the first 200 kilowatts. Dennis your right nothing going to change!

The waste and corruption in ICE is unchecked; there is no way to slow or stop it, I guess. We pay about three times here per kwh than we did in Pennsylvania, which dies not have really cheap electricity like the Northwest. AND most of the power here is supposedly from hydroelectric and geothermal, the least expensive ways to generate power….How can this be? I’d love to see an independent audit of ICE. Or better yet, participate in the audit.
