As such, we might be alert to biases, but at the same time it’s good to have some balance. This is the only article I’ve read that bothers to mention the environmental and other precautions that the canal-builders are taking. Sure, maybe they’re lying or won’t follow though, but it’s only fair to report the steps they claim to be taking.

Initially I wondered why Azahalea Solis of the Autonomous Women’s Movement (MAM) was given a paragraph to air her strident objections to the canal, since I had no idea where she got her information or why anyone would credit her opinion. Her remarks struck me as just more uninformed angry blathering.

However, the next paragraph explained the inclusion of her remarks. It cites people in a position to know who pretty much demolish Solis’ gripes.

There are still multiple sides to multiple issues, but it’s nice to finally see an article that isn’t just one-sided canal bashing.
