After living here for ten years I have found the Ticos Main problem.
PLANNING! Outside of knowing when to plant the beans and coffee that is the extent of long range planning for them. Companies like LOs Pinas grew in fits and starts adding business opportunities as they came to them not as a growth plan for the company.They would rather sell imported sox and cheap radios and sell them on the street. I tell my Gringo friends be careful not to strain your neck looking around at all the opportunity there is in C.R. The mountain town I lived in for four years has a population of 30,000 people and not one laundrymat.
I hate being negative but we call them as we see them.

Ticos only invented one condiment sauce in 100 years. Lizano. It sucks too. They have zero creativity or ambition.The ones that do know to get the Hell out if they want to learn anything. Without foreign intervention CR would look exactly like Haiti.Every tree would have been cut, every rainforest plant and animal sold off to first worlders and the Ticos would be waiting for a UN food drop.

I feel bad that Ticos just don’t receive the training in the fields needed for start-ups.

Many years ago, the ticos attempted to enter the car manufacturing business with a car they called the “Tica”, which was pretty much a real Rube Goldberg thing made out of thin tin.
