He went missing for 32 days. Then showed up at his home in a taxi. OIJ or ARCR who he worked with or Ryan himself have not giving a statement as to what happened. Maybe they cannot for reason we can only speculate. Rumors and in some papers here said kidnapping.

International involvement brings heat and unfavorable press. Big-time commercial interests react badly to having one of their own kidnapped and the ensuing unfavorable press threatens the flow of $$. Bad PR. Local kidnappings, not so much.
