This will NOT apply to repair parts, etc. Only the vehicles themselves, which perhaps we should have stated in the story.

does that go for old parts too?
I dislike heavy handed interference even if it may be well meaning.
If they care about pollution why don’t they go after vehicles who spew out thick black smoke instead of this BS.
There are tons who defeat their catalytic converters here or might even be using lower grade than diesel.
They are easy to spot.
While they’re at it how ’bout working on all that raw sewage going in the rivers all over the country.

In truth, the majority of the “air pollution” is created by buses, trucks, and semis idling in traffic, at border crossings and port stops. California spent millions researching this issue and we ended up with the strictest emmission control standards in the world adding hundreds to the cost of a car. Result? The air in LA still stinks!

While they’re at it, maybe since not any model of the newer cars are designed for the cow trails we call roads here, they should specify that only military grade, heavy duty vehicles be imported. But I know they won’t, because it would eliminate the profitable revolving door situation the government now enjoys with requiring persons to buy newer cars, drive them on the roads here, then pass the rigorous Riteve exam, then help the economy by having to pay to have the cars fixed before they can be subjected to more torture on the roads here.
