When the Super Mercado opened in Tres Equis de Turrialba they never had more than a dozen people employed and that was for two shifts a day. Since that store was the only major supermarket between Siquirres and Turrialba it had a considerable clientele.

The really nice thing about that particular store was that they purchased all their fruits and vegetables, along with their eggs, locally so everything was usually very fresh.

Which reminds me, now that I no longer live in Costa Rica I really miss the ability to pay for the eggs by weight. In the U.S. the size of the product can be drastically different in each carton.
