Law Punishing Violence Against
Women Approved
The Ley de Penalización de la
Violencia contra las Mujeres
(law punishing violence against
women) was approved in first
reading during yesterday's
session of the Legislative
Assembly, where all 44
legislators were present for the
vote, passing with only one
vote, by Libertarion Luis
Barrantes, against.
The driver of
the Zapote-San
José route full
of passengers on

detained by
Tránsito
(traffic)
officials at his
final stop in
downtown San
José and found
to have a blood
alcohol content
of 2.69.
However, the
driver cannot be
fired because he
does not have a
history of
alcoholism and
could only be

suspended for
