Court Order Suspends
Construction Of New
Stadium
The Sala Constitucional
de Costa Rica has
ordered the suspension
of work on the new
national stadium, the
stadium that was donated
by China to be built on
the site of the old
stadium in La Sabana
park. The old stadium
was demolished last July
and work on the
construction was to have
begun next month.
Public Transport Bus To
Stop Only At Authorized
Stops
Public transport buses
must end the practice of
making stops to take on
or let off passengers at
other than authorized
bus stops by the Consejo
de Transporte Público
(CTP). That is the word
from the Sala
Constitucional
(Constitutional Court)
following a hearing of "recurso
de amparo", by two Costa
Ricans who were fed up
with buses stopping in
front of their houses.
Legislators Approve
Changes For The
Implementation Of The
TLC
By a vote of 31 in
favour and 22 against,
the Legislative Assembly
approved the elimination
of subparagraph 6 or
article 78 of the Ley de
Biodiversidad, that
forms part of the Ley
sobre Propiedad
Intelectual, to avoid
the need for
consultation with the
indigenous.
Jail For Owners of
Vicious Dogs Is
Unconstitutional
The Constitutional Court
or Sala IV has ruled
that the law jailing the
owner of a vicious dog
who attacks a third
party is
unconstitutional, in
effect repealing article
130 of the Código Penal
(Penal Code) that called
for jail time of between
15 days and three
months.
